Hella Bright isn’t just a Double West Coast IPA, but a project that’s been in the works for several years. Ross, owner and head brewer at Second Dawn Brewing, met our owner Sean while doing a panel on Innovation in IPA at Big Beers, Belgians & Barleywines in Breckenridge. Ross was a Brewing Innovations Manager brewer at the time, and when he opened Second Dawn right down the road from our Aurora Arts location, the two conceived the idea of making an IPA with new hops, products and techniques. The result was an East Coast Double IPA from Second Dawn, and a West Coast Double IPA from our team: a rad collaboration bringing together learnings from both breweries’ experimental brewing experiences. 

Hella Bright was dosed with multiple lots of Citra to drive complexity, while also using Citra Incognito with the hot knockout method to increase the saturation of hop flavor. Then it was hit with ‘hella’ Riwaka and Nectaron in the dry hop along with a dash of Citra.
