Brewer’s Notes: It’s been eight years since a Four Roses bourbon barrel has graced our barrel library, the last time being Here Be Monsters Batch 3, and this one arrived in the best possible way: a hand-selected 10-year expression gifted to us by a local whiskey group who shares our obsession with what time and oak can do. We filled it immediately with a fresh batch of Here Be Monsters. The ten-year age statement occupies a sweet spot we’ve long admired: old enough to have developed deep layers of spirit character and oak integration, yet restrained enough that neither element overwhelms the other. Thirty-six months later, what emerged was a beautifully nuanced expression of our flagship Barrel Aged Stout, one that reminded us why we fell in love with this distillery in the first place.
