GET TO KNOW JOSHUA A LITTLE BETTER WITH A Q/A BELOW!

How did you get involved in the craft beer industry?
When I gave up on my foolish dreams of being a heavy metal rock star, I ended up getting a job as a barback at a weird amalgamation of a bar that was a train station, sports bar, pub, night club, a sort of common North Jersey occurrence at the time. After moving up the ranks there, and maturing a bit, I found myself working at finer establishments, pouring less and less red bull vodkas, and more and more inspired cocktails, wines and eventually craft beer. This led me to managing an award winning beer program at a gastropub, where I really fell in love with and got my education in beer of all varieties and styles. Fast forward to my move out to Colorado, and my brewery journey that led me to my home here at Cerebral in sales!

What do you dream of doing in the future (or in 5 years, if it’s hard to think that far ahead)?
Future plans have never been a mega strong suit of mine. I aim for a future filled with mountain adventures, friends, family, and music. Keeping those things in mind and at my core, will naturally guide me to where I’m supposed to be.

What’s a fun fact about you?
A fun fact about me is that I really enjoy magic. I definitely don’t broadcast this info but hey, this is a space for sharing. I enjoy the showmanship, and the personality that can be injected into a routine. You can see different magicians perform the same illusion in so many different ways and settings, and you start to see how the illusion isn’t even half of the performance, just the little payout at the end of a well built short story. It’s also really interesting seeing how different people react to magic. The smartest person in the room hates magic because they know deep down what they’ve witnessed is impossible within the laws of nature and physics, yet they don’t know and can’t understand how the illusion works. The people who can suspend disbelief have their eyes light up with joy and wonder at the sight of these impossible feats. Hand me some rubber bands one day and we can have a tiny bit of fun if you trust me enough not to snap you with it!

What do you think you would be doing if you had not started working in beer?
If I had not started working in beer, I probably would still find myself in the Adult beverage industry. I have a love and respect for distilling and winemaking. Had I not been sucked into the incredible craft beer world, I think whiskey would have come calling, and I would have worked to go down a path to securing a position at a distillery I had admiration for. I’ve always been willing to work hard and grow into the roles I envisioned for myself.

What’s your favorite part of your job at Cerebral?
My favorite part of my job at Cerebral is how cool everyone thinks I am for working here. Hahaha Joking!!! I love working for a company that I fully believe in. A place that lets me be me and flourish in my role, in my own way. Cerebral lets me use my personality and unique skill sets to achieve my goals and help keep pushing our company forward. The beer is pretty darn tasty too!
