27 Jul Galaxie Construction Updates

July 27, 2015

So much has happened in the past month. We now have floors, walls, and a bar! It’s finally starting to look like a brewery in here. Our brewhouse and fermenters are scheduled to arrive later today and we couldn’t be more ready to bring them into their new home. The mill and brite tanks should show up in a few weeks. Next on the schedule will be the completion of the parking lot and our patio space, along with landscaping around the Galaxie building and a fresh coat of paint. Below are a few photos from the past several weeks of construction.

Construction has been underway on the Galaxie shell for quite some time and our construction within the shell began last week. Plumbing and HVAC are currently being finalized and should be completed in the next week or two. Concrete is scheduled to be poured next week as long as the weather continues to hold out (no more rain, please). The outside wall is scheduled to be painted soon as well. Once that’s done we have some exciting signage planned… keep an eye out. It’s all starting to come together!

Demolition is done and construction on the Galaxie shell started a few weeks ago! The floor is graded, the pit is filled in, and the back wall is nearly complete (along with a whole host of stuff that you’re probably not interested in). Keep this blog entry pinned for up-to-date photos of the space as we progress!

We visited the Galaxie building on Wednesday morning with our friends from Humble Pie to find that a tremendous amount of work has been done. If you live in the neighborhood you’ve surely noticed a bit of a stir. Demolition is well underway and construction will begin in the next week or two. So here is a behind-the-scenes look into what is going on inside the Galaxie building. First we’ll take you in through our garage doors into the Cerebral Brewing space, then a quick jaunt north with a view of the Humble Pie space. For some perspective, here’s what it looked like the last time we set foot inside. Enjoy!

My husband and I live about 200 yards from the new place. When is the estimated opening? We can’t wait.

I’m around the corner and can’t wait. Do you have a rendering of the final renovation? What are your plans for signage and that tall pillar on the front of the building? Great property.

Hey Josh, glad you’re excited! We have final plans, but no renderings other than the ones we shared a few months ago. As for the sign that hasn’t been finalized yet but we’ll update you when we hear back.

After reading Olviia & Josh’s comments I am so bummed that I live far away. It’s going to be a 2 block walk for me…

I do, however, volunteer to make the trek as needed to help evaluate seating, bar materials, and recipes.

Another neighborhood supporter here. Can wait for your opening! Thanks for the redevelopment work and there is no other institution I’d rather have close by.

I hate all of you with that close walk, ours will be about 4 blocks. when we saw that something was going in, we were hoping it was a brewery. can’t wait to sample your brews. What is the other restaurant going in? I saw that it would be two in westword

Loving your construction photos, great design details. What did you seal your concrete floors with? Thanks, cheers!

We used a standard sealant in the tap room and a polyaspartic in the brewhouse/production area.

Hey everyone! Another brew commuter here! Closing next week 4 whole blocks away!! Stopped by the other day and met Chris (possibly aka Admin?) Could NOT be more excited about opening. Let us know if you need anything prior to open. Hold a ladder, bring bacon over…whatever haha. Love checking out the progress. Cheers!
PS-any chance of cornhole boards…fooseball..ping pong? Anything game-wise?
