24 Sep Beer Boom Opens Friday at Wynkoop

A few months ago, Chris and I were privileged enough to sit as subjects for Patrick Andrade’s (aka RELIC Fine Art) tintype project focused solely on capturing the heart of the Denver beer scene. Over the course of 7 hours or so, Patrick hand made about a dozen or so tintypes of Chris and I… including one of our fermentation chamber and Chris’s composition book. It was one of the most memorable days in recent memory watching Patrick labor over each individual plate. The process struck a chord with us, naturally. Patrick told us about his shift from world-traveling photojournalist to tintype photographer and it reminded us a bit of our own journey. Sure, his process takes much longer than it would if he were still shooting in digital. Sure, he could probably be making more money doing something else. But when you find that one thing you love, you hold on tight and you find a way to make it work… and he did just that.

“Beer Boom” opens this Friday (September 26) at the Wynkoop at 5:00pm. We’d highly recommend you attend. Patrick has compiled a vast collection of photos from 13 breweries across the Denver area, including our friends at Station 26, CAUTION, Wit’s End, Wynkoop, Grandma’s House, Great Divide, and a number of others. So go, have a beer, and look at some fantastic artwork this Friday. You’ll feel more cultured, we promise.
